vPass 3 - smart web-based generator of secure passwords

28 February 2013

I upgraded my password generator to version 3. I suspect I am the only one using it :-) but if you're curious why it's good:

vPass takes your master password (f.e. my_password) and, optionally, current domain (f.e. converts into google) and generates 12-letter mix of letters, numbers and symbols (f.e. 0EQu$MwEm?Qt).

Your master password never leaves your device. vPass is 100% client-side, pure Javascript, no data is sent to server. It's just a webpage, so it works on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, webOS, and any future OS too.

Получается нет интернета=нет паролей?

I'm on smartphone atm so can't check the code but I'm curious: what parameters you consider when generating a password? I guess several here and there but what if I use it on another machine? Will result be different? Or you're just combining master pwd with website? It seems really interesting and will test it asap. :)

Luka - glad to hear that! Thanks :-)

Thanks for Vpass, I will use it on sites I visit less often (instead of lastpass). I can't say why but there's something endearing about is quirkiness and simplicity :-)

Nyck - ни в коем случае, для этого есть локальная версия. Вот есть обсуждение -

Lock - the detailed info is here: - and yes, as long as your master password remains the same, the generated passwords are the same whatever device you use.

Hey Vlad! Nope, you're not the only one using it. I have an installation on my own server and it works like a charm. Thank you for your work and for sharing it!

I would like to use vpass3 on my ipad but can't figure out how. I watched the videos and I've read all I can find but I guess I'm just not understanding. I have the vpass icon on my desktop but can't figure it out after that. I want to do the right thing but........
